About Kraton Yogyakarta
Kraton Yogyakarta is the royal palace of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta and has been the seat of the reigning Sultan since 1755. It remains a functioning palace today, with the current Sultan still residing here.
The palace complex is a masterpiece of Javanese architecture, combining Hindu, Buddhist, and Islamic influences. It houses a museum with royal artifacts, traditional Javanese architecture, and regularly hosts cultural performances.

By Motorcycle
~20 minutes
- Head west toward city center
- Follow Jl. Laksda Adisucipto to Jl. Solo
- Continue to Jl. Malioboro area
- Kraton is south of Malioboro
Visit in the morning to catch traditional performances. Closed on certain ceremonial days.
